These are some skateboarding styles you should try

One great thing about skateboarding that attracts many people is the diverse skateboarding style. You can try out every style you like and you may prefer one over the others, but trying different styles will have you create more tricks and have more skills. We will list out some of the common skateboarding styles, so keep reading until the end.

Cruising

This style doesn’t focus on landing tricks, but long fast rides. Although any type of skateboards can be used in this style, to have the best experience you should go with one that has a larger deck, bigger wheels, and looser trucks for faster speed and smooth motion. You can find the best cruiser skateboards at Skateadvisors.

Street style

This skateboarding style is among the most popular styles. Street skateboarding is more about doing tricks. Those who like this style have to perform tricks over urban obstacles on the street like stairs, park benches, rails, walls, flower beds, bins, or whatever street furniture you can ride over.

Because you will need to really control the skateboard while riding, you will need to have one that has smaller wheels and decks compared to skateboards that are used by slalom racers, for instance. And the trucks must be stiffer so that it is much easier to control your deck and wheels while doing tricks.

Freestyle

Quite similar to street-style skateboarding, but this time you will do tricks on flat surfaces instead of urban obstacles. Freestyle skateboarding usually associated with the ability to perform tricks on the background of music.

The special thing about this style is that the players will perform tricks in a stationary position. This makes freestyle skateboarding different from other styles so that we can distinguish it from others more easily.

Park skateboarding

This style is suitable for those who like to skate in safe places where there are enough obstacles to perform tricks. Park skateboarding is known as playing skateboard in skateparks.

It is not very different from street-style skateboarding but is safer because when you skate on the street you are more likely to be hit by cars or bikes, or you will bump into pedestrians and injure them.

Skateparks are designed for skateboarders only, and they have stairs, rails, benches, and many other obstacles. There are two types of skateparks which are public skateparks and private skateparks. If you choose the private one, you will need to pay some money for your use.

Downhill skateboarding

As the name suggests, this style is to skate down the hill, and it is all about the speed. Longboards are preferred by most downhill skateboarders as they have larger decks and bigger wheels which are suitable for having higher speed.

Parents who are reading this may concern about what style will be best for your kids. It is good to start from something easy first. Your children will need to learn how to stand stably on the board before turning to the more difficult tricks. Whatever styles you kids choose, they will need a skateboard to practice, right? So why don’t you buy them the best skateboard for kids at Skateadvisors.

Those styles listed above are not all, there still more and you can explore on your own. We just mentioned some popular ones out there. As I said before, don’t stick to only one style. The more styles you know, the more creative you are.

Learning new skateboarding styles may take time at first, but once you know it, you can ride on every terrain you like. This also helps your skateboarding become less boring. One more thing I would like you to keep in mind is that you need to equip yourself with protective gear. Accidents will occur at any time and you don’t know about it, so protect yourself!
